Among ancient villages, monasteries, archaeological sites, valleys and Ionian landscapes, the routes of this territory reveal the places where vine-growing culture has developed and taken root over time.
The Bivongi DOC production area stretches for around 25 km along the Ionian coast and more than 10 km inland. It encompasses ten places of myth where Bivongi DOC wine is made: ten municipalities straddling the provinces of Reggio Calabria and Catanzaro.

Stilo
Stilo is one of Calabria’s most beautiful and visited towns, renowned for its history, monuments, ancient culture and events held throughout the year. It is one of the municipalities on the Ionian side of Reggio Calabria where Bivongi DOC wine is made. Its proximity to the sea and the saline breeze help give local wines their distinctive minerality.

Camini
Along the rows of myth lies Camini, a small village on the Ionian side of Reggio Calabria. Known in antiquity as Kaminion, its name recalls the kilns once used to make ceramics. Set among olive groves, vineyards, pines and chestnut trees, it is one of the places where Bivongi DOC wine is made.

Placanica
Set in an extraordinary landscape between green mountains and the blue of sea and sky, Placanica is one of Calabria’s most loved villages. It is one of the municipalities included in the Bivongi DOC specification and territory.

Caulonia
Caulonia is a large town in the Reggio area spread across three hills. It retains part of its medieval, Byzantine-inspired structure and numerous seventeenth- and eighteenth-century buildings. Its narrow streets, captivating squares and panoramic terraces belong to a land with a wine-growing tradition dating back to Magna Graecia.

Stignano
Set on a hill with spectacular views, among broom flowers, the green shrubs of the Stilaro and Precariti valleys and the remains of ancient defensive buildings, Stignano was the birthplace of the philosopher Tommaso Campanella. Here, the fragrant and distinctive wines of Bivongi DOC are produced.

Bivongi
Bivongi stands on the eastern slopes of the Serre range, in the lower valley of the Stilaro stream. Surrounded by the beauty of the southern Apennines, it is known for its wild nature, the longevity of its people and the tranquillity of a village that has preserved its roots.

Monasterace
Between the heights of the Stilaro and Allaro valleys and the crystal-clear Ionian Sea lies Monasterace, known for the Doric temple of Apollo, precious Greek mosaics and living folk traditions. The port of ancient Kaulon, it is a centre of food-and-wine culture where Bivongi DOC wine is produced.

Pazzano
Pazzano is the smallest village in the Stilaro Valley by population. It is known for the Hermitage of Monte Stella and its panoramic views. It is one of the places of myth where Bivongi DOC wine is made.

Riace
Riace gave the world the celebrated Riace Bronzes, two large bronze warriors discovered by chance in 1972 off its coast. Also known as the Village of Welcome, it is part of the Bivongi DOC territory, where local winegrowers protect and promote Bivongi DOC wine.

Guardavalle
Guardavalle is a Calabrian municipality in the province of Catanzaro, known for Bivongi DOC production. Its native grape contributes to Bivongi Bianco, made by blending Greco Bianco and/or Guardavalle with Malvasia Bianca and/or Ansonica.
